6/11/2022 - Riverhead Raceway: School Bus Figure 8 Night

To start off our day, we had our usual 2 rounds of practice, and they were pretty uneventful. Our fastest lap of the practice rounds cam in the first round and was a 14.372.

Today's racing is the first race of the Miller Light Triple Crown series, which means instead of heat races, we'll be participating in time trials. The way the time trials work is that everyone gets 2 laps to race around the track as fast as they can and the order is determined by fastest time in practice. The top 24 in time trials advance to the feature and everyone else gets to race in the consi, where 2 more cars will advance; the winner of the consi and the points provisional. We made it through pre-tech with no problems and we got lined up for the time trials.

We were the 4th car out for time trials, and ran a 14.404. Not too bad for our first time trial! Unfortunately it wasn't quite fast enough to get us in the top 24, so we're going to try to win the consi.

The consi went alright, as in the car came home in one piece, but we started 3rd and finished 3rd. That meant we were done racing for the night, but there was definite improvement between last week and this week.
